Caffeine and Long-Distance Driving

Most travelers who have done even short stints of night driving have likely noticed that there are a number of alertness products on the market.  Every truck stop and convenience store seems loaded with supplements meant to increase concentration, and there are as many kinds of power drinks as there are kinds of beer.  Certainly there are signs that the labs are very busy at work making new drinks that can help keep drivers awake.  Most travelers are probably also aware that the reason for these products comes from the dangers of the road, of falling asleep while at the wheel.

While truck stops are often a nice place to meet other travelers and locals, and talk about custom rims and other things of the road, they can also be great opportunities to find out how these products really work.  It’s always interesting to find out what the professionals do to stay awake, and it’s also an opportunity to find out how to drink coffee, “trucker style.”  It’s probably not surprising when one finds that for truckers, the preferred beverage on the road is still coffee.  There are plenty of reasons it’s been popular for so long, and even though ginseng and guarana might have their benefits, coffee is still the most social of all the alertness-inducing chemicals.

Sometimes it takes science awhile to catch up and focus on proving something that is probably very obvious to most.  There have been studies recently to measure levels of alertness and responsiveness with and without caffeine.  It would be no shock to discover that there is a correlation, according to the studies so far.  Drivers who have caffeine late at night are more alert than those who do not.  It may be true for the other alertness chemicals as well, but until there are more tests to demonstrate their statistical efficacy, common sense will probably have to serve in its place.

When it comes to real experience, it’s often more pleasant, and certainly more social, to talk to the ones having the experiences.  Professional drivers and well-seasoned travelers all likely have stories about coffee and the road.  They’re likely to be able to speak about  toyo tires, horsepower and torque, and other variations in driving that make it interesting.  So while medical studies may be able to explain coffee in terms that scientists understand, drivers can speak directly to the moment to moment feeling of being in the drivers seat.  Sometimes the metaphors can serve for the real thing, but sometimes the real thing is a little bit more fun.

Coffee, Cognition, Repair

The link between caffeine and cognition is much stronger than most people have already imagined. Although the die-hard coffee drinker and the committed espresso connoisseur have already decided for themselves that the connection is absolutely there, science is offering up enough evidence to agree. It’s not simply that the waking up effects of coffee have an obvious benefit when it comes to learning, but that there are more complicated chemistries at work. The connection isn’t with simple mental functioning, either, but has a positive effect abilities to perform physical tasks, such as exercise and auto repair .

For most of the conversation that takes place around the benefits of coffee or caffeine, the connection is usually drawn to college students, and the idea of staying up late in order to complete tasks and retain information at the last minute. For many people, in fact, caffeine use in connection to school age testing is the extent of their experience with coffee, and they become, or return to the habit of soda drinking. Although it’s not clear why some people take a liking to the beverage and others simply can never get over the bitterness, the ones who like it not only feel blessed, but they could very well be at a better health risk than those who find their caffeine in other forms. Even for those coffee drinkers whose intake is at what some might perceive as a rather alarming level, the benefits are palpable. In some recent studies, in fact, it is these extreme coffee fanatics who seem to have an edge over the rest of the population in terms of fighting certain kinds of illnesses. It seems there are antioxidants that only benefit the human body when consumed in larger doses.

Most doctors would very likely be a little more than cautious about advising their patients to drink more than six cups a day, however, as the negative benefits are also palpable. Sleeplessness and irritability are at the top of that list. But for those who are willing to learn and understand the risks, it is still one of the most accessible, and socially acceptable stimulants available. There is an increased sharpness of thought that coffee drinkers claim to get, and this doesn’t just come with the first cup in the morning. So, studying late at night might in fact be made a little easier with coffee, but that’s also true for other activities. A little automotive repair in the middle of the day can be augmented with a mid-day coffee break. If there is any doubt to whether there really are benefits for everyone, the idea of a well-deserved break is obvious, and very hard to argue with.

Travel With Insurance

The number of people traveling to foreign countries continues to increase. This is a result of a number of different factors. One of the most obvious is the increasing globalization of the workplace. More and more companies are doing business in foreign lands and sending their executives and managers to work on projects overseas. In addition, technology is freeing a new class of global nomads who are able to do their work from literally anywhere in the world. This gives them ability to travel while working.

All of these people, and many others who are taking advantage of world travel, need to make sure that they purchase appropriate visitor health insurance for their journeys. This applies to students heading abroad for a semester, individuals setting off on missionary work, and even those who are taking a leisure cruise or tour of foreign countries. Basically, anyone who is visiting a foreign country for any length of time should consider the benefits of obtaining insurance.

Those benefits are the same ones that lead a person to have regular medical insurance at home. Whether that insurance is provided by their government or, as in the US, is paid through employee group plans or individual policies, most people are used to having access to medical care and treatment through their existing insurance. The only way to guarantee the same access in a foreign country is to carry some form of visitor health insurance. Traveling without insurance leaves them exposed to the possibility of having to pay medical expenses out of pocket or even being denied treatment in a foreign country.

Need For Life Insurance is Universal

There are various types of live insurance policies and they are structured to serve the needs of people from all ages and backgrounds. This is because a healthy working mother of three children who is in her thirties and also the prime of her career is going to have different needs than a retired single man who has no dependents and minor family connections .

The mother is going to be more concerned with the well being and stability of her children in the unfortunate situation of her untimely and unexpected death, while the single elderly gentlemen is most likely to have burial costs as his greatest concern. And it is important to know that burial costs are actually a lot more than what most people realize and more than one extended family member has been, as harsh as it sounds, saddled with the expense.

Those are two extreme examples of the variety of consumers who seek term life insurance prices and quotes every year. And while both categories of consumers do actually exist, there is also a broad spectrum of needs that fall somewhere in between. The exact dollar amount of coverage as well as the various inclusive aspects are generally tailored to the specific needs of the individual consumer. This makes shopping for life insurance that much easier and well, assuring.

Cpap Machines Used in Treating Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a major problem for people all over the world, and unfortunately it goes undiagnosed in many individuals, and in those in which it is found, it frequently takes years before the diagnosis is made. And the overall cost to one’s health and well being can be severe. This is one of the reasons that home use of CPAP machines have become such and enormous benefit to people who suffer from the condition. The machines, officially known as a continuous positive airway pressure device ensure a continuous breathing pattern in individuals as the sleep through the night . The problem with sleep apnea means that the person who suffers from it experiences at least one, but usually more, pauses in their breathing during the night.

Another aspect of the disorder causes very shallow breaths throughout the night. There are three distinct types of the disorder and they all cause an interruption to the breathing patterns of the sleeper. This can go unnoticed by the person who suffers from it and they are likely to endure feelings of chronic fatigue , lack of concentration and other symptoms. Prolonged issues with sleep respiration can affect neurological functioning and cardiovascular systems. The problem is usually discovered by an intimate partner who notices the disturbances in breathing or sleep. The CPAP machine will force a consistence breath path for the sleeper throughout the night. And almost immediately the symptoms associated with the disorder begin to dissipate or stop all together.

Glad I got a two person hot tub!

I have really been enjoying my two person hot tubs. I am so glad I had it installed. I was thinking of going bigger and finally decided on the two person size. I have the room for a larger tub, I just didn’t want to go to the added expense of larger tub at the time I had it installed. However now in retrospect I am really glad I got the smaller size. Not only for the easy of maintenance, how quickly I can change the water and refill when necessary and the smaller volume of water heats faster. But also that my friends know it is not big and as much as they would like to come and use my tub with me they know it not big enough. It saves me from having to up set them and say no to coming over if there is simply no room for them. I never thought I would be happy I settled for a smaller tub, in fact in retrospect I though I would be sorry I had got a smaller tub and not gone with something larger. Well no!

I just love coming home and being able to soak in my tub in peace and quiet all alone. I really enjoy getting away from people and having that time. Now just about every day I can come home and take  out an hour or so for a relaxing soak. I enjoy feeling the stress and tension of the day dissolve into the hot bubbling waters. My muscles loosen up and aches and pains are washed away. Since begin using my hot tub I am sleeping much more soundly and waking up feeling much more refreshed than I have in years! My only real regret is that I didn’t get a hot tub sooner.
