Bernadette Peters Returns to New York Broadway Stage

One of Broadway’s favorite stars Bernadette Peters has returned to the stage that loves her in Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music. She has replaced Welch born Catherine Zeta-Jones in the revival performance at the Walter Kerr theatre. Elaine Stritch has also joined the cast and the two of them are creating more than a buzz around town and the theatre world.

Peters is an incredibly well respected and adored actor and has won two Tony Awards, and has been nominated for a total of seven and has also won three drama desk awards and has also been on some Grammy Award winning cast albums. Her original performance in this Sondheim classic is one of the things that catapulted her into stardom.

Stephen Sondheim is one of the most difficult to perform of the Broadway composers. His complicated musical arrangements challenge the strongest of voices and Peters’ tremendous ability has led to a frequent association to his works. This production was directed by Tony Award winning British director Trevor Nunn. The addition to the cast of Peters and Stritch was an excitement and delight for many theatre goers and a lucky strike for many of the guests in a New York hotel who are wanting to get tickets.
